A Decent Paycheck
CCP (Former Employee) - Sunrise, FL - October 12, 2023
Stressful metrics driven workplace. Even if KPI are stellar, you will be under advisement for something. Training is luck of the draw. Some are incompetent and toxic, some are excellent. WOKE culture, any benefits for tenure have been eliminated as have long tenured front line employees.

●Good Benefits ● Nice People and good culture ●Hard to progress as friends of people get promoted which in turn means people with less experience get the job

What is the best part of working at the company? Everything was very very good The services , security , cabs , food and beverages. The work culture was too good. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? We have to report to work on time What is the work environment and culture like at the company? It is very nice as everyone is very openminded What is a typical day like for you at the company? It is casual and everyone is doing their own work

risk management at amex
Risk Management Analyst (Former Employee) - new york - October 11, 2023
politics among teammates, micro managing leadership. would not reccomend wasting time here. they are not a wall street firm but act like they are one, and pay way less than that.

very stressful job
Customer Care Professional (Former Employee) - North York, ON - October 10, 2023
The management and leaders are not very supportive, the job is very stressful, metrics are unrealistic, less to no growth opportunities. Pay is okay, bonus structure is not very good. Systems are not very responsive, and the office is great, but you will not get any networking opportunities. you have back-to-back calls and u dont have time to breathe in between calls
Pros
$15 food credit
Cons
back to back calls

High stress environment with unempathetic leadership
Data Scientist (Former Employee) - india - October 9, 2023
the leaders pretend to follow good company culture , but the reality is very different , especially of the indian employees. Hard workers are exploited and everyone is working way more hours than what they are paid for . Neurotic employees who dont value work life balance and are shrewd are promoted and empathy is not rewarded

Department is Disorganized and Does not have training to do the job
Membership Manager (Current Employee) - Virtue, TN - October 7, 2023
American Express Centurion Membership Managers are given the responsibility to serve our highest members in card, concierge and travel services. However the people they hire and training are inadequate to do the job. In addition the teams are not structured properly and the tools are inadequate and antiquated to do the job effectively as a team for this level of high end service. Such a shame.

Pay and benefits
Customer Service Professional (Former Employee) - philippines - October 6, 2023
I love the compensation and benefits but this is a high pressured environment. You need to cope up with the stress of taking in phone calls and hitting all the targets.

Lack of chance to grow skills
Dispute Analyst (Former Employee) - Kuala Lumpur - October 5, 2023
This company is no doubt one of the best companies that I've ever worked. 1) Basic salary is the highest for BPO company in Malaysia. In addition, language allowance is quite high. 2) 15 days of annual leave for employers less than 3 years and it will increase to 22 days. Most companies only provide 12 days during the first 3 years. 7 days flexible leave is also provided which can be utilised for birthday, honeymoon, wedding etc. 3) Location of office is really near to KLCC. Can go for shopping after work or rest at the park. 4) Office is really comfortable with a lot of amenities such as coffee machine etc. 5) 1 meal and drink is provided everyday, so can save a lot of money. 6) Flexible point which can be converted into cash is also provided and can be used for a lot of purpose. 7) The upper management always listen and try their best to fulfill the requests from other employees. 8) Only need to come to office twice a week. 1 day is decided by the department and 1 day is up to the employee to choose. 9) No need to wear casual attire. Even T shirt is acceptable as long as it's appropriate and not disturbing sensivity of others. However, I've decided to leave the company because I feel the chance for me to grow my skills is limited. Probably because my nature of job which is routine job, doing the same everyday, and I feel the job can be automated or replace by AI, I don't see what skill can be gained and utilized outside the company. Especially when you are still young, it's extremely waste of time if you can grow your skills to the maximum. If you are at 40 years old or -
Pros
Good salary and benefits
Cons
Lack of chance to grow skills

They will incorrectly give payout unless you notice
Customer Service (Former Employee) - Florida - October 5, 2023
I have worked here for a year , from the very beginning my experience was horrible , but when you need a job & not much people are available for hiring you do your best. They informed us within the job description & interview that it would be just checking for personal and business, that wasn’t the case because within the first week of training we were informed that now it’ll be credit cards added. This was a curve ball & of course bothered some individuals due to this being misleading, once you were hired that was it unless you found a better job. A few people left during training & some were fired, the turn over rate here is sad , they have no compassion for you or your situation at hand. You can complain to a higher up on a supervisor being “unfair” or wrong & it won’t benefit you. They will still turn you around, ONLY good thing is the pay honesty ,but know your worth. This isn’t it & $24.00 to learn new departments without additional pay is insane, just take your chances with another company you can actually GROW within.
Pros
Pay
Cons
Everything else, starting with management

American Express is overall a great company with the potential of many different roles but unfortunately like most corporate companies you're just a number and can be removed or replaced

Run away
High Risk Lend Specialist (Former Employee) - Phoenix, AZ - October 4, 2023
Toxic culture, high turnover rate, they will promise you the moon and stars but at the end you’re just a number and they don’t really care about the employees one bit. I was stressed from day one until the last day I worked there. Do not recommend.

Company changing
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) - Salt Lake City, UT - October 3, 2023
Amex was a great place to work for with good pay and incentives originally. Unfortunately they started to pay less, decrease bonus pay gradually and I was making significantly less when I decided to leave.

Pros&Cons
Customer Care Professional (Current Employee) - BGC Taguig - October 3, 2023
P: Top notch benefits. Competitive pay and increase. C: Heavy workload, too many KPIs, pro-management. Most engagement activities and programs are for leaders, very few for their rank and file colleagues
