Good people and culture

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Positive culture and excellent work like balance. Employees are nice, and helpful. There is no unnecessary stress and growth happens according to merit - but you can grow at your pace.

Good pay, nice culture

The pay was good. They emphasize diversity, inclusion, and culture. Nice work life balance as well. However, depending on your manage and team, you may or may not like it. I think that's applicable to any company though

Nice people ... long time employees were Nice

My Manager took credit for all the work and blamed direct reports for everything that went wrong. Untrained and underdeveloped managers. You can move up in Amex after you have been there for 10 years or someone really likes you. Too many people have been there 20 years, you will never catch up. The most enjoyable part of the job was the routine. Same thing everyday no matter how badly that worked yesterday, we are doing it again today.

Pros

Nice facilities with great amenities like cafe with many choices and free coffee

Cons

Going to live your life there or hear about it if you don't

It's a great place to start your career. Everyone is super helpful as well as the pay is decent with structured learning process going on all year round.

Ethical employer

Great culture with emphasis on work-life balance and treating employees fairly. Many opportunities for progression but have to be proactive. A few bad eggs but overall good management with great people skills. Nice office, good benefits.

Pros

Flexible working

Remote work makes things alot easier. This is good due to the long hours required to do one's job.

Amex has high standards. All work is relentlessly monitored, so you need to be okay with a high level of technological oversight. However, people are generally nice and it feels like employees pull in the same direction.

Pros

Excellent benefits.

Cons

Constant oversight.

Cons

Decent (not great) work from home opportunity

This is not a career, just a job. Layoffs are continuous and the sales quota & work load are immense. The leadership is weak at best. Decent bonus structure and benefits.

Pros

Good pay, decent benefits

Cons

No job security, heavy workload, sales driven customer service

Its the Best

Amex is Employee Centric Company and also never forgetting the customer. The vibrant environment, people from different culture, all work together. Its been more than 9 years I am working for Amex. I would have never thought of changing if I dint want to relocate to another country.

Cons

no cons

It's an over hyped firm with very low work ethics

It's an autocratic kind of corporate with boss' favourite and mediocre employees get more preference over the innovative and talented ones. Overall i would not call it an ideal place for someone who wants to learn and grow.

great place to work

Good company, good benefits and great culture. depends on the departments you worked (all very different, sometimes it seems to work for a different company) you'll find fast paced or more relaxed, but all over the company the people is very collaborative and friendly. a few benefits: starting holidays 22 days + bank holidays sick pay medical insurance dentist virtual GP healthy mind support redundancy pay in case your role is eliminated (which can happened in this big company)

Life Balance and Salary was not much good but working environment was better as well as people working there were polite.

The Environment of the company was good, people working there were polite. Most of my team members were contractual employee so we use to get paid less than permanent employee but the the thing is we use to work more then them

Strong Work Ethics

American Express as a company has very strong work ethics and is very vocal about diversity, inclusion and Women Empowerment. It has tremendous business knowledge and expertise to impart to its employees.

Company is overall good for work

Yes, work-life balance is really good in this company but work is a bit restricted within a team and for personal growth you need to grow horizontally by moving in other teams.

Productive and fun workplace

Company core values, incentive structure, training , incentive drives, offsite and lots of learning. Good connections, you really meet good people as your client and help you network in future. The management is always there for you to help you understand work life balance - the company does have the idea that a person's life outside of work is just as important as their working life. Celebrations in office . Overall I loved it.

Productive

Fit my requirements at the time. Flexible hours and steady work. I was happy with my experience and the people that I worked with. The only concern or issue I had was with how they differentiated between employees and contractors. Everything was catered towards the employees and contractors were treated as outsiders or sub-par.
