Productive and fun workplace

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
I have really enjoyed being a part of AMEX for short period. AMEX was a great place to work with great team and fun environment. The only reason that I have left Amex for was the timing issue and I was under a temporary contract.

Ok

Work life balance not great. They take your bonus for stupid reasons. They don't care if you have an emergency you will still get an occurrence. Too much stress

Good pay, not great work life balance or culture

The pay was great however everyone including myself complained about the culture. I guess it depends what department you’re in. I was in a call center and it was highly stressful and the phones sometimes never stopped ringing so we would change out status to “after call work” just to get a minute to breathe but then management would see our statuses and have a talk with us which was never good. Lots of false promises in this company so be aware-don’t believe it until you see it. Training was horrible and super unorganized only reason I survived it was because I’m smart and figured it out on my own. Management is ridiculous when it comes to their goals they set for u to reach. You enjoy getting paid well for a while but soon enough you will end up hating your job and debate whether the money is even worth staying.

Pros

Pay and benefits

Cons

Management, training, culture, highly stressful call center

Would Recommend

Amex was great, it just wasn't for me. Would Recommend to anyone willing to take the leap at least once. There was a lot of restructuring while I was there, in part due to Co-Vid. Great pay and benefits but very important to be able to keep up with an intense, demanding environment. I left and switched to another career field.

Job is ok

The job is ok if you can handle customer service. The pay could be better. Most people that work there are nice. Management is ok. If you want to move up don't complain.

Pressured sales

Was told to push products constantly. Not a Positive work environment. Factory floor style set up . Lunch room was pretty decent. Training was sufficient.

Pay and benefits

I love the compensation and benefits but this is a high pressured environment. You need to cope up with the stress of taking in phone calls and hitting all the targets.

They will incorrectly give payout unless you notice

I have worked here for a year , from the very beginning my experience was horrible , but when you need a job & not much people are available for hiring you do your best. They informed us within the job description & interview that it would be just checking for personal and business, that wasn’t the case because within the first week of training we were informed that now it’ll be credit cards added. This was a curve ball & of course bothered some individuals due to this being misleading, once you were hired that was it unless you found a better job. A few people left during training & some were fired, the turn over rate here is sad , they have no compassion for you or your situation at hand. You can complain to a higher up on a supervisor being “unfair” or wrong & it won’t benefit you. They will still turn you around, ONLY good thing is the pay honesty ,but know your worth. This isn’t it & $24.00 to learn new departments without additional pay is insane, just take your chances with another company you can actually GROW within.

Fun place

Ive been with them 6 years. Great pay and lots of incentives. You get raises based on your performance. Communication is clear and expectations are set in place.

Company changing

Amex was a great place to work for with good pay and incentives originally. Unfortunately they started to pay less, decrease bonus pay gradually and I was making significantly less when I decided to leave.

Eh

Applied to be a customer care rep, but the interview process was so long and tedious due to several rounds. I didn’t get chosen, but I hear it’s a great company to work for

Good company

I recently had the pleasure of working for American Express, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. This company truly stands out as a beacon of employee-centric excellence. From day one, it was evident that American Express prioritizes its employees' well-being. They offer a comprehensive benefits package that goes above and beyond industry standards. The healthcare coverage is top-notch, and they even provide wellness programs to promote a healthy work-life balance. But it's not just the benefits that make American Express remarkable; it's their culture. The management team fosters a supportive and inclusive environment where every voice is heard and valued. They invest in employee development with ongoing training opportunities and clear career paths. This not only benefits individual growth but also adds to the company's overall success.Furthermore, the company places a strong emphasis on work-life balance, offering flexible schedules and remote work options. This commitment to employee well-being not only boosts morale but also enhances productivity. In conclusion, American Express dedication to its employees is commendable. It's a place where your contributions are acknowledged and rewarded, making it a fantastic choice for anyone seeking a pro-employee organization.

It’s ok

Job is not what it seems. Have to offer sales pitches when you are told it’s not a sales position. No help when needed from supervisors especially later in the evening. No guidance really felt like I was left alone a lot. Chc offered little assistance often had to do several searches to get the correct info which makes for upset customers for long hold times.

Good job. Hours and pay not great.

People are treated very well. Fun place at times, good atmosphere plenty of support in every way. Quite low pay. Bad shift pattern. So overall good for younger candidates but not if you have dependents. Some late finishes. Some opportunities for sideways moves to keep the interest up. Some chance of genuine advancement but most who wish to do better actually decide to leave.

Pros

Supportive atmosphere

Cons

Low pay
