Great entry level job

Indeed Featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Not for experienced professionals. This is a great job for folks just graduating from college looking to get health information technology experience. Much of the hiring is based on nepotism so try to find a relative that works there. Women are generally paid less than men.

Pros

Informal work attire. Very relaxed office environment, great medical and dental benefits!

Cons

I worked long hours, approximately 55 hours per week.

Good company

Good working invironment, if they are still paying 16 a hour that is far from what I would call a competitive salary. Pros You Immidiately get Healthcare that's awesome. The employees are great my Team Lead was great.

Very boring to work with eggplant testing tool. Zero to no learning as the company uses eggplant. If u work here you are hardly market ready. Work environment us good

Overall Good

Mostly Java-Springboot, few Ruby on rails, npm and pythonOCI is going to be the platform of choice after the Oracle acquisition.Things are usually good and work pressure is not that much.Recently attitude has become a little negative after Oracle.

No advancement and insecurity

Got laid off after four months due to them not planning for their new incoming workers and where they would place them. This was slightly before they were acquired and I'm guessing they were trying to make themselves a more attractive company on paper rather than taking care of their employees and making it a good job.

Good place while it lasts

Worked there for 7 years. There was a noticable change after the founder passed away. I don't if it was corporate greed or preparation for a buyout but the company I was loyal to laid me off after 7 years.

No.

This was the most stressful job Ive ever had. I was required to maintain a call volume of 30+ calls a day. We had a constant call waiting volume of over 100 calls and if we went over even one minute on our breaks, we were harrassed about it.

Great place

Great place to work. However, after acquisition, culture is changing too fast. You will get to work with proper training. Your concerns will be heard. Work life balance is good.

Good

Good work culture, supportive employee. It is changing after Oracle aquisition. Currently in remote, nothing negative much. It's place to work for long time.

Good Team, Bad Culture

My team and managers are hard working and supportive but the culture overall is toxic. There have been multiple layoffs with no communication. You can only find out on Reddit what is happening in the organization. If you are salaried pto is unlimited but hourly is accrued. Proceed with caution if joining the team here.

Pros

Unlimited PTO for salaried employees

Cons

Lack of organizational communication

Where's the leadership

Missing leadership, low employee morale, Cerner is not what it was years back. Oracle just destroyed Cerner legacy. Great team, great insurance n benefits

I so loathe Cerner. At the lowest point in my life they kicked me while I was down.

What is the best part of working at the company? Can’t think if of one. I was part of a take over of the IT department. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Too global and corporate, no consideration of the individual. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?People I worked with were awesome, corporate was nasty. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Busy but also a good challenge

Over a decade of small raises, no promotions, constant management changes

Most of my days were spent working solo on small and unimportant projects, and tediously documenting what I was doing so my manager could explain to their leadership what was being accomplished. Few of my 12+ managers understood the scope of my work or skillset, and I was never given an opportunity to lead. Currently, raises and promotions are frozen Company-wide and layoffs occur almost monthly.

Working environment is good.Salary is low.Other benefits are not much.Technology is good. There are many changes after oracle aquisition which are not much favorable to employees.

Unorganized, underutilize employees

I was hired as an Associate Consultant and had almost no say to what team I was put on. There were also multiple weeks where I had no work on my new team and didn't have anything to do. Most of my team was remote, as well as my manager, which made it difficult to learn and get up to speed. They throw you out to your clients with little experience while billing their clients for every little item, when you're not experienced at all on their contract.

A great place to start

Cerner is a great place to gain experience and start your career. There is a high turnover rate and this is somewhat expected. They take college grads, train them to do the job, and they churn out work. Eventually people find better opportunities, but having Cerner on your resume is a good thing. The pay is good for right out of college, but you know you can do better after a few years. For the most part, the people who I worked with were great people and even though the work is sometimes terrible, the people definitely made it better.
