Work place was 50/50

Workplace was ok. But they did not notice your hardwork and dedication towards the company. Kept promoting some lazy individuals whilst you were going above and beyond for a company who did not appreciate you.

Pros

Staff discount.

Cons

Can't leave the workplace until you have finished your task. Manager made me work 36 hours.

Meh

People lovely but everything else bad, management bad, policies were awful, customers were very abusive. Working hours were bad. Products weren’t great.

fantastic work force, with abilities, of great customer service skills. friendly atmosphere and great management.

Overall Debenhams was a great place to work,The flexibility was great for mother's students, and those with a second job. You also had the ability to work your way up.Not forgetting the discounts you get from the: Departments: Restaurants: Travel and other perks at work. It was such a shame when they closed

Pros

discounts off sales and restaurants, and great team.

Cons

long hours and weekends

A lot of pressure on targets, even on the staff who were only there once a week.

Management only care about how many accounts have been set up and put a lot of pressure on staff to reach targets, even for younger staff who work part-time.

Fast paced work during Christmas period.

Managers always available to answer any questions.Standard retail work, restocking shelves, advising customers, ensuring area was kept clean.Floor managers were pleasant to talk to.

Good job but very segregated

Job is ok if you are part of the ‘in group’, if your not then be prepared to be told off for everything - yet those that are part of the ‘in group’ will be let off turning up 1 hr late or going on 2 hour lunch breaks whilst your waiting starving. The pay is good but I really felt left out

Pros

1&1/2 hr breaks

Cons

Wthic

Not in the slightest surprised they finally went under.

Absolutely horrific company to work for. Had a massive impact on my mental health. Management were living in the dinosaur age. Outdate views. Unrealistic expectations. Little to no work life balance.

Pros

Met my best friends.

Cons

Everything bar the above.

Heavy workload

Large workload, very little help and direction from management. Long hours expected. Very unprofessional grievance system. Does not take reports seriously

What's there to say. Retail.

Changing schedules often, and just a very repetitive job. For what it was, seasonal work as had just moved to the U.K., it served a purpose. My coworkers were wonderful though.

Don’t do it

Not a good place to work. Obvious favourites with managers and If you’re not a favourite you get given the jobs no one wants to do and the shifts no one wants to have.

Was a fun and responsible place to work.I always had very high marks by mistery shopper as I believed every customer counts.

I would love to work for the company given the opportunity.Overall excellent company to work for.work culture was very supportive.I worked for Debenhams of Nottingham and loved it .It would be nice for new owners[Boohoo] to open store in Nottingham as I still have customer who stopped me in Nottingham city and ask when you going to reopen Debenhams. They donot like to shop anywhere else. They actual miss the store. It is great shame that not the labour party or conservative were willing to help save the company. I was very annoyed to find out how much money a tax payer is giving to these Member of Parliament. It would have made strategic sense to save the company as now every city centre looks ugly and going to cost the local council millions of £ to put right. Not to mention 30,000 people loosing their jobs and loosing 243 years department store.

Pros

staff discount. given complete trust

Cons

could not find any.

Overall decent place to work

Very rubbish on the hours because they were going into administration but overall very kind staff and managers. Never a full moment with Lots to do but sometimes was a bit to strict for my liking

Okay place to work but often left standing around with nothing to do.

Good for a first time job but I felt that it wasn't challenging enough and there was a lot of time spent walking around trying to look busy so I didn't get into trouble. But most of the staff were really nice

Fun workplace

Good place to work, but sadly went to administration and closed down last year. Average retail job, with high street working hours. Used to work in children's wear department.
