Fast-paced environment with friendly people

In a typical day you will make product and clean to ensure safety, safety is always a priority at KFC, management is nice and the most enjoyable part of the job is the people you get to work with

Nice management

tiring work, late hours.

Decent place to work

Very fast paced but when I worked there the staff was decent and easy to work with. It was a minimum wage position but 8t was suitable for the work I did.

Pros

Sometimes free food/discounts

Cons

Little growth

Poor management

The work isn’t bad at all but the management is awful. Most of the management doesn’t know how to do any of the back of house cooking and force an egregious amount of work upon the employees. They expect you to continue cooking even after you’ve broken things down in order to close on time then complain when you haven’t closed in time.

Pros

Free meals

Cons

Awful management

Not fun

You'll work in the kitchen for minimum wage and be covered with a thin layer of Greece after every shift. Managers are always under the influence work here if it's a first time job

Cons

It’s bad

I’ve worked here for about 7 months and the managers will knock how many days you work if you are “rude” to them and will force you to do things that they dislike then refuse to let you sit down all day while they sit down

Pros

Free food

Cons

Horrible management

I wouldn't recommend anyone who respects them self to work here.

This is a bit of a longer review but accurateSo the typical day at KFC as a cook goes as followed. To start your cook shift, you clean fresh chicken, usually about 4/5 pallets for week days and 6-8 on weekends. that means taking out the guts and making sure the wing bones aren't snapped and then rebagging. After this you'll be expected to clean the bin area and rotate bins ( never understood why the cook did this anyway). You have to turn on and allow the pressure fryers to heat up about hour and a half before open, you have to do a small first cook to temp check. sometimes the cook on the close before will empty the oil as it will need to be replaced, this usually only happens once every 2 weeks, to be honest.Once you are open, you have a screen display to follow that suggests the amount of product to put down, but to be blunt, this is usually wrong and will end up with lots of waste which you get blamed for.As a cook you usually have a 2nd cook, though that's usually only from 12-9, also even though the ad may say mon-fri 7-4 i wouldn't hold my breath on it staying consistent, managers rarely care about your availability and will build the schedule to work for them, not you.As a cook, you will have a lot of stress about the food being ready on time, but there is not a lot of support for the cooks either from middle of house or management on shift and will usually get berated rather than helped. The workplace environment within this kind of place is toxic at best, lots of drama and back stabbing. You can usually find 1 or 2 people you can properly have a laugh with, -

Nobody knows how to do the job

This place is absolutely disgusting on the inside. If an inspector were to walk in today they would be closed down immediately. The hiring process was a mess. Co-workers telling other people how what to do. There is a chance for cross contamination everywhere you look and turn.

Pros

30 minute break with free meal

Cons

Disgusting. Employees acting like they are your boss. Bad communication.

Worst job I've had in a long time.

Don't waste your time trying to work here, noone trains you correctly then management gets snippy with you because of it. There are no communication skills between managers, if you're not in their little *clique* then you're the bad guy.

Pros

Was close enough to walk.

Cons

Just about everything

Terrible place to work

Absolutely horrific place to work. Management couldn't do anything, was working with faulting equipment for nearly a year. Fans in the kitchen weren't working but they wouldn't fix them. When I finally told them I was leaving the management were talking about me on the front of house in ear shot of customers, store manager cornered me in the staff room trying to force to start at 6:30 am after finishing at 11:30 pm.

Pros

None

Cons

Everything

Cook

Been working at a local franchise for about 6-8 weeks, the team is outstanding and staff really do make you feel welcome and apart of the team. Cooks role is underpaid based at minimum, the amount of things you have to do and keep up with is a joke. Fryers need cleaning every night and is a mammoth task when cleaning the fryer boxes which there is no set procedure for. Management do look after you and tend to talk to you about any issues you may have at work or out of work. My role is easy once you get started although I do think KFC Cooks need a payrise based upon the amount of dirty work we have to deal with.

Pros

Free food, great friendly team.

Cons

Greasy work, underpaid.
