Great benefits. PTO is great, health benefits and you can roll over days. I’ve learned a lot. Great work life balance. They follow a hybrid schedule which is great.

Resistant to changes

Management unwilling to improve and change. Lengthy discussions without conclusion. Even if there are conclusion, result is no change, thus inefficient. Very administrative and operational.

Pretty stifling

Pay was decent, work life balance is there. However previously I worked for a boss who likes to shout at people from other department through the phone and I don't like that.

Pros

work life balance, pay is decent, leaves

Cons

stifling and stressful

Professional and fair

The benefit package is really good when comparing which other companies in Vietnam. Hybrid work.Collegue is friendly and polite and always willing to share, training and really healful. One drawback is the salary range, you have to deal by youself (not fix range as some companies) so if you are not good dealer, maybe lower salary than your real work

People there was nice.

I learn lot of thing there. Colleague was nice. They are willing to answer question and help. But support was not enough. Many thing was lost during handover, need to learn it yourself.

Supportive and friendly working environtment

I worked as temporary staff, so I was not given so many important tasks. The operation team is always busy, you need to complete many transactions per day.

Pros

Professional working environment

Cons

Strict, not innovative processes

Old fashioned mind set of management. Working environment is unfriendly. Team spirit cannot be seen anywhere.

Slow carreer advancement. Many managers were slowly responded to the impact of the pandemic. Extremely old fashioned mindset and time costly procedures involved in every decision making.

Great culture, Nice colleagues

Most colleagues are great to co-work with nice personality. But some management is not thinking well on culture integration and trying to perform the way in Japanese.

Pros

Work life balances

Cons

Lower pay than market

SMBC is a top rated organization

Fantastic to work with with and there are great opportunities. Team leads are exceptional and the team leads are always happy to assist with the contractors

Japanese expats rule

Even if you know your job the Japanese expats rule the roost. This is not the place for anyone who is proficient at there job and likes to work independently.

Good job with work life balance, but a struggle with upward mobility

Spent 8 yrs at the company so there is work life balance and jobs security, but the upward mobility has been difficult. Additionally they pay a little less than market, but the bonuses are great. Bank has taken an initiative to hire more local senior managers within divisions so culture has slowly become more American.

Pros

Work life balance, hybrid schedule, job security. Excellent bonuses.

Cons

Lower pay than market

What to expect working for Finance Team

Poor management, Inconsiderate to employees’ work balance, expects a staff to work 12 to 14 hour day without breaks, called staffs in when they are scheduled to be off.

Pros

Medical Benefits are okay

Cons

Raises doesn’t meet cost of living, bonus should depend on evaluation but it’s more favoritism.

Good work-life balance

Good work-life balance. Good benefits. Typical Japanese culture needs to take time to get used to it. Overall, the people are friendly and nice. The system is outdated and needs to be improved.

Great culture

Working for Sumitomo Bank was an amazing experience that I will always treasure and remember. Huge opportunity in learning the ins and outs of Japanese business practices.

Pros

Japanese traditions.

Cons

None

Unfufilling, draining and mundane

Your efforts won't be recognised unless you shower your managements with gifts and compliments. High workload and less benefits. As a contract staff, you are readily disposable.

Pros

Are you at least a VP? If yes, high pay and awesome benefits.

Cons

Have to find ways to please those managers

Job security, but demanding

The company offers real job security and rewards long-term commitment. However, it hasn't done anything to improve the conditions of people working from home. If you want a chair that doesn't hurt your back, or an external monitor to improve productivity, you have to buy it yourself.

So far so good

Good work life balance, nice people, no stress, 4 weeks of vacation, decent salary(I don’t know about the standard in this industry, but a very good start salary compared to other office jobs)

Minimal to no guidance and obsolete systems

You are to find your own way in completing more than half the tasks here. There is no proper onboarding whatsoever and you are expected to hit the ground running. Have to step in even after hours and for things that you have no experience with due to the lack of resources. Despite these efforts, you are seldom recognized for your work but would be singled out and blamed if something goes wrong. Not the best environment to work in, especially if you are early in your career.
