It’s just a job

TSA is honestly not an bad job, however it shouldnot be considered an opportunity for a long termCareer. Use this job to transfer into other federal agencies!

Shift work

Bad part shift work, you bud for your shift every 6 months to a year. The good part you do get to do jobs that keep America safe. You get to meet a lot of different people from all over the country and world.

Terrible, toxic work environment

No work/life balance, toxic leadership/management. Constant breaches =security theater. Incentivized working while sick…in a pandemic! Mandates due to inability to retain staff. Good luck getting a break.

Great place to work for a temp job. They don’t hire from temps very rarely. Really nice staff and hood ppl there will help you with questions and training

You can accomplish both professional and personal goals

A typical work day was from 8am to 5pm. The day could offer new challenges and opportunities to apply your knowledge and experience. Management was always open to new and fresh ideas and supported and listened to your ideas.The office was comprised of different departments and responsibilities that often overlapped. Each area worked independently and together to accomplish common goals.DSH was the best part of my professional career.

Great Career with unlimited opportunities

Great people to work with, the mission is truly important to the safety and security of this nation. Get used to change of direction every four to eight years with changing administration, but that's the government. Benefits are great and you will travel, domestic and international, you'll see all parts of America and the world. Stay positive, learn your job and be better than average with your LEO equipment.

always plenty to do

Computer input, move files (in boxes) when processed. Quite repetitive ~ each day is similar to day before! Just the nature of the job. Not a bad thing at all.

It’s a job….

Job is not hard just have to deal with a lot of different personalities from passengers and co-workers. Management could be better not the best. Good place to get started in government careers.

necessary job to keep the flying public safe

Working for TSA was a job I really wanted and was excited to have. It was difficult at times but very rewarding. I worked at the Salt Lake City airport for 4 1/2 years and loved it. We moved to Austin and the Austin airport is very dysfunctional. A large amount of the officers did not follow SOP, and I decided to leave rather than watch officers do an incomplete job

Productive and respectful

This is a volunteer based company. Everyone there is doing what they love.... helping others and learning along the way. Its a great way to help the community and make quality friendships.

Es un trabajo fuerte pero no imposible!

Todo depende que turno te toque trabajar. El companerismo esta, pero comunicacion con gerenciales no es tan sencillo. Todos tienen opiniones en cuanto que se debe hacer para mejorar el ambiente de trabajo, pero no se llega a nada realmente.

I learn allot working at DHS

I got plenty of on the job training and there were other IT specialists in the area that were always willing to help you out. You could set your work hours within reason.

Will never work for this agency again

Unhealthy work environment. Awful work culture. Unappreciated, awful leadership, no work life balance or promotion potential. Left and never looked back.

Horrible unprofessional management

Disorganized, abusive power tripping management, poor work culture and morale, and poor on site training. Advancement hard to achieve, rules always changing, leadership different requirements and ways of doing things every shift and not by the book

Confusion, not consistent

When I was there no one was consistent with rules, guidelines, procedures. And too much favoritism. There needs to be more start times, and a better way to use time off

Poor Management

DHS/TSA and in particular, this local agency office is run by incompetent personnel, who disenfranchise the work force team. The leadership is not trustworthy and values no employee beyond what can benefit their individual and respective position. All responsibilities are delegated and blame and accountability are deferred to parties that are not ultimately responsible.

The camaraderie of your coworkers and how they have your back when needed.

There is no typical day at work when you are deployed. You know what to do and your coworkers know what to do. You become a well oiled machine. I loved working with DMAT under Homeland Security/

Horrible place to work for

MANAGERS ARE LESS KNOWLEDGEABLE THAN THE ACTUAL EMPLOYEES. They have managers running the show, with less knowledge than the actual doers. Way too politicized.
