Reasonable pay, great benefits, and challenging work but extremely micromanaged
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) - Pleasant Prairie, WI - August 5, 2022
Indeed Featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedThe pros: Uline pays well hourly, offers amazing end-of-year bonuses, generous benefits package, periodic sale bonuses (when they make money, the owners share generously with their people), random food and prize giveaways. The cons: Extreme micromanagement; strict and very conservative culture not open to change; poor advancement opportunities; Big Brother environment. If you enjoy and thrive in a fast-paced, highly structured and monitored environment, you'll do well here. Otherwise, best to apply elsewhere.

Daily OT, poor work/life balance
Warehouse Associate (Current Employee) - Kenosha, WI - August 9, 2022
If you like not knowing exactly when you'll leave work every day then this is the job for you. Warehouse associates will be working overtime probably 90% of all shifts throughout the year but you do not know how much until the end of the day. The company used to be better at minimizing overtime but it seems they've essentially given up now that they've seen the workforce will bear it and they aren't forced to hire more employees. If you want to advance you better fit the Uline mold or you will never have a chance. The goals are tough but achievable and the compensation is fair for unskilled labor but the company culture is toxic despite the image they'd like to portray.
Pros
profit-sharing bonus, you are never on-call
Cons
poor work/life balance, little room for advancement, monoculture

Culture
Database Analyst (Former Employee) - Milwaukee, WI - August 3, 2022
Unparalleled company culture including monthly work outings onsite/offsite, the nicest and most manicured headquarters I've worked at, and some of the smartest people I've gotten the privilege to learn from and with.

Don't apply if your African American
Warehouse Associate (Current Employee) - Ontario, CA - August 1, 2022
they aren't diverse. even if you qualify they won't hire you. the hiring process is a waste of time they have you go thru so many interviews just to say no UNLESS you look a certain way they font care about work ethics. money isn't worth the horrible treatment.

Micromanagement, toxic environment
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) - Kenosha, WI - July 19, 2022
Management acts like a high school click showing favoritism strongly preventing 98% of hires from retention and/or advancement. The micromanaging is an illustration of very lackluster ability to lead and insecurities. No regards to covid safety practices and no second thought to massive positivity rates. Dress code for men /women is archaic in that panty hose and skirts/dresses required for women majority of the week. If you enjoy being belittled daily, working in an extremely fast paced arena with little to no margin for error with management breathing down your neck than this is the place for you. Absolutely no work home life balance and very small chance of PTO approval. Guaranteed to work holidays as more senior reps will not work holidays. No opportunity for advancement but the pay and bonuses are good in a sad attempt to make it worth the stress level and biggest reason I endured and kept my head down was end of year bonuses and pay. Just don’t work for ULINE.
Pros
Pay and Bonuses
Cons
Extreme micro mgt, unfriendly, constantly critiqued, treated as a child not an adult, no flexibility.

10+ hour days, pressure to work holidays and weekends
Warehouse Manager (Former Employee) - Hudson, WI - July 15, 2022
Culture is their biggest weakness. They put up this facade that they are a family company, but they treat you just like you are, a number. As a management trainee there was no light at the end of the tunnel and "drinking the Kool-aid" was a positive thing to them. Stressful days to hit numbers, and management will pressure you to work almost every weekend/ holiday

Customer Service Review
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) - Illinois - July 10, 2022
If you like a structured work environment that pays you a good salary and a steady work schedule, Uline is a good place to start. The benefits are fantastic and we have multiple work schedules to fit most people's needs. I deal with the best, the worst, the fraudsters, and the prankster customers over the phone, via email, and through internet chat. Sometimes, all at the same time. We also have an intense training program. Once you get used to everything we do, (it's a lot), the job gets easier.
Pros
Great benefits, great people, great training program, plenty of OT if you want it, and flexible schedules.
Cons
Most new people tell me that their con is having to start on the swing shift, which is actually a good thing for training.

Good pay and good year end bonus, but not the best hours
Warehouse Associate (Current Employee) - Irving, TX - July 10, 2022
Good pay and good profit sharing bonus (about $8000, it goes up a bit every year) but most people work 10-7:30, sometimes a bit longer so there’s not a lot of family/personal time at the end of the day
Pros
Good pay, good bonus, no mandatory weekends
Cons
Bad week hours

Benefit will make you drool hungrily.
Warehouse Associate (Former Employee) - Waukegan, IL - July 6, 2022
No room for advancement at all. You'll be chomping at the bit to move up, but you'll have to wait ten years for the opportunity. If you're content with warehouse work and want nothing more, you'll find nothing better.

Hard work, long hours, “decent pay”
Warehouse Associate (Current Employee) - Braselton, GA - July 5, 2022
Overall, the company is ok at best. 9-10 hour days 5 days a week is way too much for working in a warehouse that has no air conditioning. Job is very tough on your body if you have to operate a picker and if you do you will be on it all day. Some people say pay is good but there is a giant pay gap with new people vs people that have been there a year or more. (New hires making almost $6-$8 more a hour than people who have been there for years.) Benefits are very expensive compared to other companies like Uline. The only thing keeping 90% of the workforce there is a bonus at the end of the year they give to employees. None of the shifts make sense for people to have a home life. My advice.. Go to 4 day work week with better shift times and everyone should be making the same thing unless you are promoted to a different position with more responsibilities.

Strict and Rigid Company
Data Coordinator (Former Employee) - Kenosha, WI - July 5, 2022
If you have a brain or mind of your own and do not like working in a company that hasn't left the 50's do not apply. You are told there are places for advancement, there are not unless you are one of the chosen. It has a very cult like atmosphere which makes it uncomfortable

Great pay for easy work
Repack Order Filler (Current Employee) - Kenosha, WI - June 30, 2022
The pay for the work we do is head and shoulders above anything in the surrounding areas. Managers are hit and miss as it seems once you're salary the sense of humor and emotion leave their body. Making the work environment that much worse. Your coworkers are what keep the job fun and make the day/ night fly bye. If you work here you're simply here for the money and nothing else.

Solid company for the right person
Warehouse Department Manager (Former Employee) - Pleasant Prairie, WI - June 27, 2022
ULINE provides industry best pay and benefits and is highly touted in the SE Wisconsin area as the premier employer. Overall solid place to work, but lacking some of the current flexibility offered by other companies in similar settings.
Pros
Pay, Benefits, job/company security
Cons
hours of operation, lacking of flexibility for work/life balance

Don’t do it
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) - Kenosha, WI - June 27, 2022
The only reason people stay is the end of the year bonus. It is a toxic culture that dates back to the 1950’s. In customer service they time you on phone calls and e-mails. If you are on one over 3 minutes the clock starts ticking until management has to come and listen or watch you. You can be perfect and they will still find something wrong with you. Half the time the Team leads and CS Managers are goofing off.. just not a mentally good place to work.

Great pay, gets in the way of life off work.
Warehouse Associate (Former Employee) - Ontario, CA - June 24, 2022
If you aspire to work for a company that pays well, this place is great for you. But if you plan to spend a good amount of time with your family and friends throughout the week, it's near impossible. The mandatory overtime became excessive, as you could not make plans and it was difficult to leave for emergencies, as it hurt your attendance. You make a commitment to work about 10 hrs 5 days a week. Great pay, work/life balance was awful.

Great Pay, Awful Management
Warehouse (Former Employee) - Braselton, GA - June 24, 2022
Low moral workplace. Lots of negative reinforcement with no acknowledgment for hard work or going above and beyond. Managers are lazy and will not contribute even as days go late and workers struggle to get the job done. PTO is unreasonably difficult to get approved. Employees are treated as expendable and unimportant. But the pay is great 👍
Pros
Money
Cons
Everything else

The good and the bad
Warehouse (Current Employee) - Pleasant Prairie, WI - June 5, 2022
Uline will pay you well and have good benefits... But you will work long hours with no balance for home life. Management will lead you on with false promises of advancement and help.

Don’t apply
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) - Allentown, PA - June 1, 2022
In my personal experience (having been here for years), I have realized that there are no genuine advancement opportunities for CS reps. You can apply to another department and repeatedly get turned down, even with proven metrics and experience in the company. I have been told by multiple team leads to “hold it” instead of getting up to use the bathroom. It is nearly impossible to get time off for a last minute doctor’s appointment that may come up. The scheduling department will will make your personal life feel unimportant by saying that Uline needs your help and to reschedule your appointment or go to the appointment on the weekends. (How is that possible?) Many fellow reps and team leads/managers engage in gossip about other reps and this creates a negative environment.
Pros
You’ll meet a lot of new people since they always need to hire
Cons
Bathroom breaks are timed down to the second. Many more but I think you get the point.

Terrible Life balance
Warehouse Associate (Current Employee) - Allentown, PA - May 19, 2022
If you are looking for money and employee appreciation this is the company for you, overtime on the other hand are insane. Also the shifts day have will restrict you from doing anything productive outside work

Uline is a great place to learn and grow!
Office (Current Employee) - Milton, ON - May 15, 2022
Employees in every department are positive, energetic and supportive. There are many employee appreciation events throughout the year and the compensation and benefits are amazing. Overall a great place to work!
Pros
Clean and organized environment, employee events, compensation and benefits
Cons
none

It was alright.
Contracted by a temp company as a loader and honestly for the level of work I put in every day the pay was not enough. I was making just over $500/week, and I worked my butt off filling their trailers, organizing them as well as possible and doing anything else they asked and it was not worth it. Attendance policy is very strict, management seems to care more about you being there every day even if you don't feel well.
